Peaceful community in scenic Texas Hill Country
Liberty Hill is a peaceful community nestled alongside State Highway 29 in the scenic Texas Hill Country to Austin’s north. Around 40 minutes from Downtown Austin, this peaceful community has slowly developed out of a farming community that was established in the mid-1800s.
Like much of Williamson County, Liberty Hill is a growing community. However, with just over 1,600 residents, it remains one of the county’s most close-knit and quiet communities. Real estate in Liberty Hill mostly consists of spacious one and two-level single-family homes with large yards and gorgeous Hill Country views. Liberty Hill’s Orchard Ridge is a modern master-planned development offering residents contemporary properties and amenities such as a clubhouse, pavilion, swimming pool, and splash pad.
Malted House in the heart of Liberty Hill offers straight-forward dishes with mouth-watering flavor. The nearby Hobo Junction Café serves large portions of delicious homestyle food in an old-world setting with frequent live music performances. Dahlia Café is a popular spot specializing in chicken-fried steak and Southern classics with a large outdoor patio hosting live music at the weekends. Chinese restaurant Happy Wok is located close to Dahlia Café. Several other restaurants are dotted along Highway 29, with authentic Mexican cuisine at Jardin Corona and handcrafted burgers and beer-battered french fries at Major’s Burger Company.
Liberty Hill International Sculpture Garden showcases the work of local artist Mel Fowler and 25 international sculptors Fowler invited into the community in the 1970s. In October, the Sculpture Garden hosts a festival featuring hot air balloons and a fun run. Fort Tumbleweed is a unique family-run Liberty Hill attraction featuring 16 acres of historic buildings and relics dating back to the 1850s.
Liberty Hill has its own Independent School District, with two elementary schools and highly-rated middle and high schools.
